New York Charity Opens Hospital In Earthquake Ravaged Nepal
Charity Run By Park Avenue Doctor Opens Hospital In Sindhuli
New York City/Sindhuli, Nepal, Aug. 01, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Two years after the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal and killed more than eight thousand people, CITTA is opening The Doctor Christopher Barley Hospital in Sindhuli. “When I was here doing search and rescue work two years ago, I promised that we would not forget the people of Nepal and that we would be back,” says NYC internist Dr. Christopher Barley. “Now, I am pleased to say we are.”
The new hospital in Sindhuli, approximately four hours from Katmandu, has 20 beds and will be the only hospital to serve an area of 50,000 people. Medical care is urgently needed across Nepal, but especially in the area affected by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and deadly aftershocks in 2015.
CITTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing proper healthcare and educational opportunities to economically challenged, remote, and marginalized countries. CITTA recently raised $150,000 at its first Annual Winter Gala to assist the Sindhuli community. These donations help provide medical equipment and resources for The Doctor Christopher Barley Hospital. A donation of $500 funds a nurse’s salary for one month, a donation of $10,000 provides an ambulance, and a donation of $25,000 provides an X-Ray machine. We would like to thank each and every one of our donors for helping us change lives and provide necessary healthcare services for patients in need. If you would like to donate, please visit our website at the following link: https://citta.org/donate/
Dr. Christopher Barley’s medical career has been dedicated to addressing both the concerns of his individual patients and, at the same time, the political issues and causes that impact medical care in our society and throughout the world.
Dr. Barley has built a highly respected internal medicine practice in New York City at which he treats some of New York’s most influential citizens, as well as royalty. After attending medical school at George Washington University in the nation’s capital, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1996 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Barley is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
